untitled poem II I don't do 'pictures of bitches' or quick snaps of chaps I want to dig out the beauty that lies behind everyone's eyesI want to reach into their depths brush aside the cobwebs and expose them for the wonders that they really are to make every girl a princess and all the lads cowboys so they can see themselves as they always wanted to beBefore the world crushed themand told them they're nothin'and stole all the dreamsright out of their heartsI want to make them brave soldiers and queens in their castles surrounded by knights and sweet maidens fair I want to tear down your curtains and peel back your vest
Be gentle with usCreating art isn't just pushing a button. It's more than lighting and composition and tension and mood and intent. It's laying yourself bare: to be seen and judged and studied and looked over and picked apart and dismissed. It's about trusting the world with your fragility, about the confidence to say "I have this idea to share" and about planting a feeling into another's heart and hoping it blossoms into a shared understanding of the world. It's letting everyone else into your head. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder! they cry. Then through my eye, BEHOLD! This is beauty as I know it to be.It's not about letting someone else in.It's about sharing yourself out.
